Movie club is a space where we recognize God's presence and movement in our lives, through the art of storytelling. As we watch movies that touch our hearts and souls, we often discover fresh insights woven into the narratives. The club is a platform for us to discuss how these cinematic stories reflect our own life journeys, raise our awareness of social injustices, and call us to new understandings. Please join us for this practice of Cinema-Divina and the discussions that are sure to spark a deep introspection. It's a unique opportunity to explore how wisdom and grace can manifest in unexpected places, reminding us that even in the world of cinema, God’s promptings can be felt and recognized in the most profound ways.
Here's how it works…
Every month a different movie will be announced. (typically, that movie can be found on Netflix) During that month, participants are encouraged to watch the movie at their convenience. At the end of the month, we will gather online, via Zoom, for our discussion.

In Come Sunday, Carlton Pearson, a prominent figure in the Pentecostal community, leads Higher Dimensions Church, a thriving congregation in Tulsa that bridges racial divides. Pearson's shift in beliefs, sparked by witnessing the Rwandan massacre, challenges traditional Pentecostal doctrine. Convinced of a more compassionate interpretation of God's love, Pearson preaches that all innocents, including non-Christians and LGBTQ individuals, are embraced by God. This radical sermon triggers a clash with Pentecostal leaders, including his mentor Oral Roberts.
